Valtteri Raekallio

Valterri has performed in over 60 productions in 35 countries and appeared in contemporary dance performances, opera and theatre productions, as well as dance films. He began his dancing career at the Finnish National Opera Ballet School in 1989 and graduated as a dancer in 2002.

His Professional work as a choreographer reaches from multi-disciplinary, immersive site-specific works such as Short Stories from Forgotten Rooms (2015), The Representative (2014), Where Does the Light Go? (2013) to dance films of different approaches: Fear is a habit (2014), Sub Terra (2014), Waiting Song (2013) and North Horizon (2010, collaboration with Thomas Freundlich).

Valtteri is also the founder of Liikekieli.com, Finland’s online magazine for dance. Liikekieli.com subsequently received the 2008 Finnish State Award for Dance Arts, Finland’s highest commendation in dance.
